DJ Sound System
My standard DJ sound system for most events
is a very powerful, very capable system assembled into one large, rolling rack.
Where load-in limitations allow me to use that rack, the system would include a
professional mixer, (8) wireless microphones, up to (4) amplifier
channels, and at least (2) professional speakers on stands. Where limitations
exclude the rack and require equipment to be carried into an event, I generally
use a Yamaha 12-channel powered mixer, a small rack with (4) wireless
microphones, and at least (2) speakers on stands. Typically, I also include at
least (1) subwoofer with every system to provide the best sound. |

Live Music Sound System
My live sound system uses some of the best
equipment in the industry! I use the excellent and amazing PreSonus StudioLive
1642 digital mixer and a
matched set of JBL PRX powered subs (4) & top speakers (2) for
Front-of-House sound at most shows...that's
all, and it kicks major butt! The StudioLive board is essentially a mixer and
effects rack, all in one compact unit, providing (16) microphone inputs with
high-pass filters, gates, compressors, limiters, 4-band EQs, (6) aux/monitor
sends and (2) sends to the built-in digital delay and reverb. If needed, I have
an Apple Mac Mini that pairs with the mixer and allows me to record up to 18
tracks simply and easily.
For any size venue or show, up to (6) monitor mixes
are available by JBL floor wedges, self-powered speakers
or in-ear monitors (supplied by the artists), and sidefill or zone speakers can
be added for better sound on large, wide-open stages. Each monitor mix has high-pass
filter, gating, compression, limiting, 4-band parametric EQ and a 31-band
graphic EQ available to optimize what
the musicians hear and match well with the higher demands of modern in-ear
monitoring. For you musicians with an iPhone or iPod Touch: My mixer will even
let you adjust your own monitor mix using your iPhone and a free app! How's
THAT for crazy and cool? |
