Professional sound equipment to
cover all kinds of events! |
 |
|
My standard DJ
sound system for most events includes a laptop computer, (3) wireless handheld microphones
for guest use,
a powered mixer, (1 or 2) powered subwoofer(s) and (2) top speakers. This works fine for most shows as the
mixer has channels for all my components plus extras to spare for guest inputs,
such as iPods, musical instruments and special microphones. For live-band or
larger DJ shows needing more equipment, I have plenty...just see below. |

My sound system has just gone through an evolution.
Until now, my typical live Front-Of-House sound system consisted of either a Mackie 16- or 24-channel
analog mixer, outboard effects and processors, graphic equalizers, a rack of
power amps and large speakers. As of now though, I use the excellent PreSonus StudioLive
1642 digital mixer and a
matched set of JBL PRX powered subs & top speakers for medium-sized shows...that's
all, and it kicks major butt!. The StudioLive replaces all the other electronics
except a crossover, and the powered
speakers replace the crossover and main amps, all while conserving weight,
space and even power. When I do
outdoor or large indoor concerts, I still break out the big rack of amps and speakers and just
add it to the powered system. This allows me to have huge sound, even outdoors
on big stages because the medium-size system becomes a powerful sidefill system
while the big stuff pushes the front.
For any size venue or show, up to (6) monitor mixes
are available by floor wedges, sub/top stacks for drummers,
or in-ear monitors supplied by the artists. Each monitor mix has EQ, gating,
compression and limiting available to optimize use with modern in-ear systems. |
